UFC Fight Night - Lewis Vs. Browne - Results

UFC Fight Night at Halifax ended on a Lewis knockout. The event was much better than the NBA All-Star Game. Early action saw Randa Markos upset Carla Esparza by decision in what was a close fight. Markos came in with a unique and different style by being low and slumped over, and throwing punches from different angles. Carla seemed to get timely takedowns and mix in crisp boxing but just wasn't enough to win.  The main card started with a big first round knockout. The second fight Sara McMann ran through Mazany with no problem. She came out pressuring and got it to the ground quick, and transitioned into the arm triangle from there. Johny Hendricks looked much better at the middleweight division. His boxing was on point and crisp and kept the energy level throughout the fight. The main event is why we all watched. Expecting a knockout and it delivered. Travis Browne had Lewis in trouble with a number of kicks to the body which could have stopped the fight anytime. Lewis on a few occasions went down grasping at is stomach but fought through it. The second round saw Lewis come out throwing and hit him a number of times. The fight went to the ground and after pounding him with bombs a late stoppage finally came. The post fight interview was very interesting if you haven't seen it, go watch it.

UFC Fight Night - Lewis Vs. Browne

UFC Fight Night with the heavy hitting heavyweights. Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne have a combined 29 knockouts with 17 coming in the UFC. It would be surprising to not see a knockout in this one. Derrick Lewis comes into the fight on a 5 fight win streak with 4 victories in 2016. Travis Browne comes into the fight on 2 fight losing streak and a combine 2-3 record in his last 5 fights. This is a fight you don't want to miss if you're into knockouts. The co-main event could see two guys who are on their way out of the company. Johny Hendricks versus Hector Lombard have a combined 11 losses but both have struggled lately and in danger of getting cut. Hendricks struggles have included problems cutting weight and 1-4 in his last 4 fights. A move up to middleweight should help the weight cut problems, but will he be able to compete at a higher weight class after struggling at welterweight in 2016? Hector Lombard came into the UFC with a lot of hype from Bellator.At the time, he was labeled as the best prospect outside of the UFC. Before joining the UFC Lombard only had 2 losses his entire career, but has 4 losses and a suspension during the time with the company. The fight benefits Hendricks to take it to the ground because his power has appeared to be in decline. Lombard would benefit to keep the fight standing and using his power, with a career 19 knockouts. A fighter on the prelims in an interesting fight is Carla Esparza who is the former champion in the strawweight women's division. UFC Halifax may turn out to be better than UFC 208 and can't be less exciting that's for certain.
